An interesting short Essay at wired.com has appeared, following the recent spate of media reports about the failure of Wikipedia.

It does focus rather heavily on Wikipedia, and fails to draw any conclusive opinion other than "well it could all fall apart through scams and exploits" but it's a reasonable piece.
